Resumo

A doença por depósito linear de imunoglobulina A (IgA) é um processo mucocutâneo crônico, raro e de origem auto-imune, caracterizado por depósitos lineares do anticorpo ao longo da membrana basal da pele e mucosas. O estudo da enfermidade é de grande importância, visto que a mesma é de complexo diagnóstico e tratamento, além de sua etiopatogenia não estar ainda definida. O presente artigo teve por objetivo revisar a literatura referente à doença da IgA linear, abordando suas características clínicas, diagnóstico diferencial e alternativas de tratamento.

Abstract

Sialolithiasis is one of the most frequent pathologies of the salivary glands, involving both major and minor glands, but especially the ductal system of the submandibular gland. In the majority of the cases, these sialoliths do not surpass 1cm of extension. However, eventually some of them can reach large sizes and weight, when they are called giant sialoliths or mega sialoliths, causing a lot of pain and discomfort to the patient. The present article reports a clinical case of a patient presenting a giant salivary stone in the submandibular duct, focusing on its radiographic and macroscopic features, and also presents a brief review of the literature about the subject.
